"I'm here to change the narrative around mental health and to help women grieve what hurt them, glow as they heal, and grow into the life they desire"

Dominique Walker

The Woman

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing and serving the Metro Detroit Area for the past 8 years. I received my training and Master of Education in Community Counseling from DePaul University in 2016. I have actively worked in human services and counseling for approximately 10 years in a variety of settings including working to reunite and strengthen bonds with families, serving as a Life Coach for young adults ages 18 to 25" and clinician for children and families with serious emotional needs. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including impulsivity, ADHD, stress and anxiety, depression, communication issues and strained relationships. My work in private practice focuses on helping women of color create the life they desire by building a routine for self-care and teaching healing strategies to cope with traumatic experiences. My life experiences, empathy, holistic perspective, and resourcefulness help shape me as an empathetic and competent counselor.

The Work

I believe that you can create your happiness by focusing on healing yourself and creating new relationships with self and others. A major thread that is woven throughout my work and the way I connect with others is a Trauma Informed Approach which means having an understanding that it is less about “what’s wrong with you” and more about “what has happened to you”.  Utilizing a client focused approach, we focus on acceptance and change through reflection, art, mindfulness, and other cognitive behavioral practices. My passion is to help others move closer to peace and understanding of what a happy and meaningful life looks like.
